The Unknowns Among Us is a project in flux. These are a small sampling of photographs that I have collected as part of the archival project, the Armenians of Whitinsville; people who were once precious and now forgotten. The photographs often stir memories in me of these people that I can’t possibly have had. The connection that is almost familial, perhaps because these photographs are of people from my community, but I’ve never known them. It wasn’t until I heard Gen Umezu posit that photography was the visual repository of humankind’s collective unconsciousness that I began to understand why I felt this way. I don’t know what I will eventually do with these photographs, but am thinking about it. If you might like to collaborate on a project, please let me know.
